Let's take a look at some of the more advanced product setup options you can take advantage of with CartLoom. Some of your products may have variations which are available in different quantities or at a different price. If this applies to your product, you need to decide whether SPINOFFS or OPTIONS are appropriate for your situation.
Spin-offs are considered altogether separate products. This feature allows the seller to have a single product with multiple variations on key values. Each spin-off will have its own size, weight, price and inventory. For example, you can sell a single design on many different t-shirt styles.
Spin-off Examples
- Short sleeved T-shirt for $14.95 weighs 16oz. and has 120 in inventory.
- Long sleeved T-shirt for $19.95 weighs 24oz. and has 170 in inventory.
- Sweatshirt for $29.95 weighs 36oz. and has 60 in inventory.
Spin-offs can also be used to sell variations on digital goods. For example, a photographer may wish to sell digital images in varying resolutions and prices. Provide the FILE NAME (refer to your Products → File Storage) for each variation, along with its title and price. When using FILE NAME, enable Digital Active in the Digital product tab. Note that serial number distribution is not available with spin-offs and digital products.
IMPORTANT - Each spin-off's values ( of the parent product ) will be used in add to cart functions, shipping and availability queries. Price, weight and inventory on the Basics tab will be ignored if Spin-offs are enabled.
